Summary: The role of Technical Architect – ServiceNow focuses on leading the design, governance, and optimization of Change Management and CMDB architecture within a large-scale enterprise environment. The architect will ensure technical integrity and platform scalability while aligning with ServiceNow best practices across complex, multi-team delivery. This position requires a strong background in ServiceNow and experience in managing integrations and data governance. The role also involves mentoring and providing oversight to various teams involved in the implementation process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and govern the end-to-end technical architecture for Change Management and CMDB on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Design data models, workflows, and integrations that ensure accuracy, scalability, and performance.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into robust technical solutions aligned with ServiceNow standards.
  • Shape the CMDB architecture, including class models, relationship mapping, data quality rules, reconciliation logic, and discovery patterns.
  • Ensure CMDB design supports service, asset, and change workflows across the wider ecosystem.
  • Oversee the integration of external data sources into the CMDB with strong data governance.
  • Architect automated and manual change workflows, approvals, risk calculations, and policy-driven logic.
  • Ensure change models support high-volume environments and align with enterprise governance frameworks.
  • Optimise release, deployment, and change orchestration through scalable technical patterns.
  • Lead API, integration, and data-flow design between ServiceNow, ITSM tooling, monitoring platforms, and CMDB sources.
  • Establish and enforce platform guardrails, coding standards, reusable patterns, and configuration guidelines.
  • Conduct technical reviews and ensure proposed solutions adhere to architecture principles.
  • Evaluate platform enhancements, roadmap items, and new ServiceNow features relevant to Change & CMDB.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement technical improvements.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to developers, administrators, and functional teams.

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience as a ServiceNow Technical Architect, ideally within enterprise or multi-supplier environments.
  • Deep expertise in Change Management, CMDB design, Data Model governance, and Discovery/Service Mapping.
  • Hands-on skills with ServiceNow IntegrationHub, API patterns (REST/SOAP), MID Servers, and event/monitoring integrations.
  • Proven ability to define platform architecture, technical standards, and scalable solution patterns.
  • Strong understanding of platform performance, data governance, and large-scale ServiceNow implementations.
