Summary: The Technical Architect role involves leading the design and implementation of the Workiverse platform, a multi-tenant HR and training ecosystem. The position requires translating complex business requirements into scalable and secure technical solutions while collaborating with various teams. The role is part-time and offers a freelance contract outside of IR35 regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development and architecture, particularly in multi-tenant SaaS platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the end-to-end system architecture (frontend, backend, integrations, data, security).
  • Design multi-tenant SaaS architecture with modular product capabilities.
  • Select appropriate tech stack and frameworks for scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Guide development teams with technical direction and best practices.
  • Define coding standards, API contracts, and integration patterns.
  • Review and approve technical designs and code for architectural alignment.
  • Design and document REST/GraphQL APIs and webhooks for internal and external use.
  • Oversee integrations with third-party systems (e.g., CHARMS, payroll, calendars, payment gateways).
  • Define data architecture, storage strategies, and backup/disaster recovery.
  • Implement security best practices including RBAC/ABAC, encryption, audit logging, and GDPR compliance.
  • Ensure architecture supports ISO27001/SOC2 readiness.
  • Work with ML/AI engineers to integrate AI-driven features (e.g., AI agent, skill gap analysis, recommendations).
  • Ensure AI pipelines are efficient, explainable, and compliant with privacy regulations.
  • Partner with Product Manager to align technical roadmap with business priorities.
  • Work with DevOps/SRE to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines, observability, and cloud cost optimisation.
  • Support QA in defining automated test strategies at architectural level.

Key Skills:

  • 7+ years in software development with at least 3 years in an architecture role.
  • Proven experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Frontend: React/Next.js, TypeScript.
  • Backend: Node.js/NestJS or Python/FastAPI/Django.
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch.
  • Infrastructure: AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.

The Role
