Summary: The role of Technical Architect involves leading the design and delivery of industrial projects within the Defence sector, requiring strong Revit skills and a thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations. The position is hybrid, based in either Glasgow or Manchester, and is contracted until July 2026. Candidates must hold SC clearance and have experience with RIBA Stages 2-4.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to the design and delivery of industrial projects from concept through to detailed design.
- Translate client requirements into robust, buildable technical design solutions.
- Manage and coordinate architectural input within a multidisciplinary project team.
- Produce and review technical drawings, models, and specifications.
- Ensure design compliance with UK Building Regulations, standards, and client requirements.
- Set up, coordinate, and monitor BIM workflows, model integration, and clash detection.
- Support project reporting on design progress, coordination issues, and risks.
- Liaise with stakeholders, clients, and consultants to ensure effective communication and delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
- Take ownership of project packages, driving quality and consistency through all design stages.
- Uphold practice standards of design excellence and innovation.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure deadlines are met.
Key Skills:
- Experience within Defence/MOD is required.
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and industrial facility design.
- Proficient in Revit with experience delivering to BIM Level 2.
- Skilled in advanced collaboration tools (e.g. Navisworks) for model federation, clash detection, and coordination.
- Ability to establish and manage a project BIM strategy.
- Strong technical design and detailing skills across RIBA Stages 2–4.
- Competence in specification writing and materials selection (experience with NBS software desirable).
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment (architects, engineers, process specialists).
- Confident in coordinating and resolving design interfaces across disciplines.

Our client is looking for an ARB registered or CIAT Architect with strong Revit experience and an excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations. You will need experience with RIBA Stages 2-4 and will be working on the delivery and design of build environments within Defence.
Working Patterns and location – hybrid working 2-3 days a week onsite in Manchester or Glasgow
