Summary: The Teacher of English role is a fixed-term summer position based in London, responsible for delivering engaging language lessons to international learners. The position requires adherence to safeguarding policies and collaboration with the academic team while fulfilling various teaching and administrative duties. Teachers will work 42 hours per week, including lesson planning and participation in team meetings, with accommodation and meals provided. The contract runs from July 2025 to August 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver language-focused and engaging lessons.
  • Teach 30 hours a week plus 12 hours of activities/excursions/pastoral duties.
  • Work 6 days a week (between Monday – Sunday).
  • Follow BSC syllabus and complete weekly planners, attendance sheets, and student reports.
  • Be observed and receive feedback.
  • Work as part of the academic team and support the summer team as a whole.
  • Attend and participate in academic meetings and INSETT sessions.
  • Assist with placement testing and attend induction held at the centre.
  • Comply with BSC Uniform Policy and Centre rules and regulations.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons.
  • Report any student absence and safeguarding issues.
  • Work positively as part of a team and demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Attend and participate in all centre team meetings.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Centre.

Key Skills:

  • CELTA/Trinity TESOL/B.Ed. in TEFL/TESOL/PGCE in languages with QTS.
  • Experience teaching ESL students, particularly young learners.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly MS Office and databases.
  • Excellent lesson planning skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to work well in a team and remain calm under pressure.
  • Enthusiasm for summer school life.
  • Right to work in the UK/EU.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
