Summary: The role of Tax Accountant (Interim) involves supporting tax operations during a critical transition phase for a regulated fin-tech company. The position requires hands-on involvement in compliance, tax reporting, and business initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is a qualified tax professional with strong UK corporate tax experience and a minimum of 2-3 years in-house experience following practice training. This role is based in either London or Birmingham and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of half year and annual tax provisioning under IFRS
  • Support the preparation of UK corporate tax returns and associated filings
  • Support the tax compliance process for European entities, primarily Ireland, including liaison with external advisors
  • Respond to tax authority queries and audits, primarily in the UK
  • Provide guidance on indirect tax matters (e.g. VAT), in collaboration with the finance team
  • Support intercompany transfer pricing documentation and compliance

Key Skills:

  • ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified (or equivalent - this is an essential requirement)
  • Trained in a recognised accountancy or tax practice
  • Minimum 2–3 years' post-qualification experience in an in-house tax or finance role
  • Strong working knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and reporting
  • Comfortable working independently and liaising with external advisors and stakeholders
  • Excellent Excel and financial reporting skills
  • Exposure to Irish tax compliance and reporting (nice to have)
  • Experience working in a regulated business (e.g. fintech, financial services) (nice to have)
  • Working knowledge of indirect tax and/or transfer pricing (nice to have)
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite or similar ERP systems (nice to have)

Role: Tax Accountant (Interim) Location: London or Birmingham, Hybrid Salary: £70-80k basic, Fixed Term Contract – 3-6M’s Our client is a regulated fin-tech, with a focus on payment processing. We are currently hiring for an Interim Tax Accountant to support our tax operations during a critical phase of transition and growth. Reporting into the Head of Tax, this is a hands-on role focused on compliance, tax reporting, and supporting business initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. This role is ideal for a qualified tax professional with strong UK corporate tax experience, and at least 2–3 years’ experience in-house following practice training. You’ll be working across a diverse portfolio of entities, supporting both routine tax compliance and project-based work.
