Summary: The Tactical Buyer role involves the timely acquisition of products and services for an Aerospace and Defence client, ensuring accurate order processing and supplier management. The position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to address procurement challenges and improve supplier performance. This is a full-time, 12-month maternity cover contract based in Templecombe, Somerset, with a hybrid working arrangement. Candidates must be prepared to undergo full Security Clearance (SC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate acquisition of products and services.
  • Generation and end-to-end purchase orders to meet operational demands.
  • Accountability for resolving issues related to supplier performance and deliveries.
  • Executing activities in accordance with Chorus processes.
  • Maintenance and support of Self-Service applications.
  • Issuing RFI/RFQs for business operations and programme requirements.
  • Monitoring and improving supplier performance.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved cash management.

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience in Procurement/Buying.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/ERP/Oracle.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.

Detailed Description From Employer:

Morson Talent are recruiting a Tactical Buyer for our Aerospace and Defence client.

37 hours per week full time 3 days on site

12 Month Contract Maternity Cover

Location Templecombe, Somerset/will consider Cheadle, Greater Manchester

Rates Depending on experience

PAYE Up to £22.00/hour + (£2.66/hr holiday pay first 12 weeks, £3.54/hr week 13 onwards)

Umbrella - Up to £30.40/hour

Key responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis, you ll be involved in:

Timely and accurate acquisition of products and services for the company, to ensure all requests and information is correctly received and understood.

Generation and end to end purchase orders to achieve appropriate levels of material availability and service provisions to meet both the Master Production Schedule and day to day business operational demands.

Accountability and ownership for the timely resolution of issues, incidents and complaints (such as non-conformity, supplier returns, supplier performance issues, delayed deliveries, PO queries, invoices and payment queries etc.)

Executing all activities in accordance with Chorus processes, including monitoring inventory and order book levels, work queues, lead times, unmatched invoices, supplier payments, CAPAs and Internal and External supplier audits.

Maintenance and support of the company s Self-Service applications (eg Amazon for Business, Purchasing Cards, Blueshop etc.), including the governance of such applications, user administration and support, supplier relationship and performance management, catalogue maintenance, compliance and reporting.

Issuing RFI/RFQs in support of business operations, programme and bid requirements

Monitoring and improving supplier performance and escalating where necessary to Category/Suppler Performance Management, to participate and provide input in supplier reviews (QBRs).

Actively identifying and delivering opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance and improved cash management through effective supplier negotiation and/or supplier selection (purchasing channel) to improve bottom line company performance.

About you

Ideally, you ll:

Have previous experience and demonstrated success working within Procurement/Buying

Be proficient in working with Microsoft Excel/ERP/Oracle

Have proven experience in working within a fast-paced environment.

Have the ability to manage multiple suppliers and products.

Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Have the ability to plan ahead and solve challenging operational issues.

Be goal orientated, set stretching targets for suppliers and prepared to take risks to gain a competitive advantage for the company.
