Summary: The Tableau Administrator role involves managing and optimizing the Tableau platform, ensuring a secure and efficient analytics environment. The position requires strong governance and operational support for business users while adhering to enterprise data standards. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite in Glasgow. The contract is expected to last between six to twelve months, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and govern Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud environments
- Manage platform security, including roles, permissions, and access controls
- Oversee site, project, and content governance across the Tableau estate
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and usage; troubleshoot and optimise as required
- Manage extracts, scheduling, refresh strategies, and Tableau Bridge connectivity
- Handle content lifecycle management, including publishing, archiving, and decommissioning
- Provide operational support, incident management, and production issue resolution
- Implement monitoring, reporting, and ensure SLA adherence
- Support and enable business users with best practices and platform guidance
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience administering Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud
- In-depth knowledge of Tableau security models (roles and permissions)
- Proven experience with sites, projects, and content governance
- Expertise in extracts, scheduling, and refresh strategies
- Experience with Tableau Bridge for hybrid data connectivity
- Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting capabilities
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts
- SQL skills for data investigation and issue resolution
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (desirable)
- Familiarity with SSO and Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions
- Incident and problem management within production environments
- Experience using monitoring tools and producing operational reports
- Strong service management mindset with a focus on SLA delivery
