Summary: The role of Systems Engineer - SatCom involves supporting the development of a satellite communications programme for a leading aerospace company. The position requires the creation of systems design based on customer requirements and collaboration with various stakeholders to populate the product backlog. The engineer will also be responsible for documenting software architecture and interactions, as well as performing peer reviews and providing support to the development team. This contract role is based in Portsmouth and requires on-site presence three days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating Systems Design based on customer requirements
- Working with the System Design Authority and Product Owner to populate the Product Backlog
- Capturing software architecture in the UML model
- Detailing interactions between software components
- Generating ICD and IRD documentation
- Performing peer reviews of colleagues' work
- Supporting the Development Team in understanding the System Model
Key Skills:
- Knowledge of SatCom
- Experience on Defence-based projects
- Experience in UML / SysML Modelling
- Knowledge of Radio Planning (desired)
- Experience working in an Agile environment (desired)
- Knowledge or experience in Software Development (desired)
- Ability to self-motivate and work well in a team
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to generate high-quality documentation
- Confident interaction with internal and external stakeholders
