Typical Role Overview

Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester, England — hybrid, with remote flexibility

Type: Contract Full-time

Rate: £700–850 per day

Focus: Enterprise systems architecture, infrastructure design and technical solutions

What You Would Do

  • Designing end-to-end systems architectures that align business strategy with technical capability
  • Evaluating technology options and recommending solutions that balance performance, cost and maintainability
  • Working with engineering teams to implement and optimize systems across infrastructure and applications
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Documenting architectures, design decisions and implementation approaches for clarity and knowledge transfer
  • Contributing to technical strategy and helping teams adopt best practices in systems design
  • Supporting problem-solving on complex technical challenges across multiple domains

What You Could Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in systems engineering, solutions architecture or a closely related technical role
  • Demonstrated expertise designing scalable, enterprise-grade systems and infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid environments
  • Experience with containerization, orchestration and modern deployment practices
  • Solid understanding of networking, security and data architecture principles
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • Nice-to-have Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or equivalent
  • Experience in a specific domain such as financial services, healthcare or e-commerce
