Summary: The System Engineer role at AMS involves migrating Windows and RHEL applications between AWS accounts while utilizing DevOps tools to automate software processes. The position requires collaboration within a team to enhance system performance, security, and reliability. The role is based in Edinburgh and operates on a hybrid working model for a 6-month contract. Candidates will work closely with Tesco IMS to support their contingent recruitment hiring needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Migrate Windows and RHEL applications from one AWS account to another.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools.
- Recommend process improvements for system scalability and reliability.
- Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure, optimizing performance and security.
- Develop product specifications and design test procedures.
- Provide fault isolation and resolution for complex challenges.
- Monitor, identify, and correct software defects.
- Plan, organize, and oversee activities to meet project objectives.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance.
Key Skills:
- Strong background in software development and RHEL/WINTEL OS system administration.
- Deep understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
- Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with tools like SNYK for code security vulnerabilities.
- Strong coding skills and experience with version control systems like Github Enterprise.
- Operational knowledge of the AWS Cloud Platform.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Good working knowledge of automation tools like Ansible.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience in maintaining IT security and providing IT support.
