Summary: The Supply Chain Manager role at a World Class Defence Organisation involves overseeing supplier performance and risk management within the Equipment's team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective supplier performance, capability, and risk management.
  • Conduct internal and external assessments related to business maturity, planning, and control.
  • Manage a portfolio of suppliers and report performance and supply chain risks.
  • Improve supplier performance using lean methodologies and appropriate tools.
  • Assess supply chain capabilities to meet delivery profiles.
  • Create and validate process flows and conduct lead time analysis.
  • Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks.
  • Deliver executive summaries and conduct analysis for stakeholders.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in supply chain management within Aerospace, Defence, or Manufacturing.

World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Supply Chain Manager subcontractor on an initial 6 month contract. 

Rate: £50.00 per hour

Location: Stevenage or Bolton, depending on your preference.

Hybrid / Remote working: 2 days onsite per week

Contract: 37 Hours per week

Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’

Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Supply Chain Manager Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Manager to join ISP in the Equipment's team. The successful candidate will bring their experience and knowledge to ensure effective Supplier performance, capability & Risk management. As a team, we work across all programmes in a changing environment, managing and implementing both mature and new technologies.

Responsibilities /Skillset/experience required:

  • Internal and external assessment skills/knowledge; Business maturity, planning & control, relationship management, manufacturing excellence etc…
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to further develop his / her network
  • It would be desirable if you have SC21 Practitioner experience
  • Very good negotiating and influencing skills
  • Objective driven, determination to succeed
  • Excellent communication skills: able to communicate verbally, in writing and present to at all levels of business
  • Ideally a degree calibre Supply Chain professional with experience of international working in high technology companies.
  • Experience of supply chain management in the Aerospace, Defence or Manufacturing environments.
  • A proven ability to:
  • Demonstrated ability to improve Supplier Performance (Delivery and Quality)using appropriate tools and lean methodologies
  • Managing a portfolio of suppliers on a day to day basis and reporting into designated project the performance and supply chain risk
  • Assess supply chain and suppliers capability to meet delivery profile for both  current state vs Future state
  • Competent in creating/ validating process flows, lead time analysis, understanding capacity bottlenecks, yield, resources and sub-tier mapping activities to form an industrial view of supplier
  • Hold excellent problem solving skills and understanding of techniques such as DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) to develop and implement root cause analysis and improvement plans within Supply Chain
  • Identify, Escalate and mitigate potential Supply Chain Risks and put in place associated improvement and mitigation plans. Manage risks to closure
  • Conducting analysis and providing/delivering executive summaries
