Summary: The Supplier Quality Engineer role based in Peterlee, Co. Durham, involves working with a global automotive manufacturing company to ensure supplier quality and support new product introduction (NPI) projects. The position requires proactive engagement with suppliers, utilizing quality planning tools and methodologies such as APQP and PPAP. The role is focused on maintaining high standards of quality for non-metallic components and assemblies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and cost. This is a site-based position with potential for long-term engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support NPI projects and ensure procurement and supplier quality using APQP and PPAP.
• Work onsite with suppliers to confirm product quality and quantity for NPI projects.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on new part introduction and APQP conformance.
• Analyze and document cost information for new product development and engineering changes.
• Manage supplier activity and facilitate trade-off discussions during the design process.
• Lead cross-functional teams to achieve cost opportunity objectives.
• Assess suppliers for QCLDM and implement Lean and APQP processes.
• Develop supplier metrics and resolve issues between suppliers and engineering personnel.
• Utilize supplier issue investigation tools such as Root Cause Analysis and PFMEA.

Key Skills:

• Experience in manufacturing, specifically with non-metallic components, assemblies, fasteners, and fixings.
• Proficiency in APQP and PPAP processes.
• Strong analytical skills for cost analysis and documentation.
