Key Responsibilities:
- Assess potential suppliers through on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits.
- Drive implementation of Lean, BIQ, & APQP methodologies.
- Continuously review supplier capacity and assure production readiness through rigorous review of supplier PPAP submissions.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to the supply base in executing a robust quality plan.
- Collaborate with suppliers to assure proper process control standards and monitor key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of technological developments and trends for guidance on design, quality, and manufacturing advancements.
- Ensure completion and approval of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) before new parts are delivered.
- Provide resolution and implement robust solutions for quality problems associated with purchased materials.

Supplier Development Engineer Peterlee Twelve-months £39.35 hr / umbrella Fully site based 5+ years SDE experience. Manufacturing, steel fabrication industry experience. automation projects taking care of suppliers, mainly for articulated trucks in Peterlee. Oil & gas or offshore is also considered Must be a strong communicator who is able to work with many different groups from suppliers to internal customers and teams. Previous supplier relationship management experience. Desirable to have machining and painting processes and technical standards experience. Must have welding understanding and how it works. Direct team of x3. Will also have close working relationship with local quality team and suppliers. Microsoft office.
Key Experiences: • Engineering or manufacturing background • Familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assembly for products • Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures • Knowledge of tools and techniques of 6 Sigma methodology (Green Belt training and/or other 6 Sigma experience) • Understanding of QCLDM • Familiarity with procurement tools, systems and processes Trusted Advisor - Serves as the trusted advisor for assigned supply base through the following functional responsibilities: Assessing potential suppliers via on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits, driving implementation of Lean, BIQ, & APQP, continuously reviewing supplier capacity, assuring production readiness through rigorous review of supplier PPAP submission, being recognized as the expert in supplier quality.
• Technical Expertise - Provides technical expertise and leadership to Client's supply base in the execution of a robust quality plan within the supplier network. In addition, implements a well-documented continuous quality improvement process and strict process controls. This will be used for the evaluation and development of new and existing suppliers worldwide to maximize Quality, Cost, Logistics, Delivery, and Management (QCLDM) within the supply network. Ensures that a supplier is able to meet corporate and business unit requirements for SQEP certification levels and customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery of purchased material.
• Continuous Process Improvement - Collaborates with suppliers to assure proper process control standards are in place and continuously monitors key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities. Ensures that suppliers have adequate people, training, tooling, fixturing, and equipment. Provides technical support during start-up activities and provides ongoing strategic support. Responsible for monitoring suppliers’ adherence to PCN (Process Change Notification) on a timely and cost-effective basis, as well as to develop the supply base to fulfill the total requirements from Client's Production System (CPS) implementation.
• Quality Focus - Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of technological developments and trends for guidance of commodity teams in advancements of design, quality, and manufacturing. Must have a thorough working knowledge of quality initiatives to ensure that Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is completed and approved before new parts are delivered. This includes leadership in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activity. Provides resolution and ensure implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with the purchased materials, logistics, and engineering issue • Good human relation / communication skills. • Solid ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem-solving tools. • Must be a self-starter, have strong time management skills and demonstrate a high level of personal accountability
