Summary: This role involves supporting key highways projects in the South of England, focusing on the design and assessment of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS). The position offers flexible arrangements and is classified as outside IR35 with a rolling 6-month term. The ideal candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver compliant drainage solutions while engaging with various stakeholders. Strong experience in drainage design for highways or infrastructure projects is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or support the design and assessment of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) for highways schemes.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary design team to deliver drainage solutions in compliance with national and local standards.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, drainage models, and design reports.
- Engage with stakeholders and review planning, environmental, and regulatory constraints.
- Contribute to flood risk assessments and drainage impact studies.
Key Skills:
- Strong background in drainage design, particularly for highways or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with relevant industry software, such as: MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS tools (desirable).
- Familiarity with current design standards and guidance (e.g., DMRB, CIRIA SuDS Manual).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a wider team.
- Experience delivering projects under local authority frameworks or National Highways is desirable.
- Chartered or working towards chartership (CIWEM, ICE) - preferred but not essential.
