Summary: The Substation Commissioning Engineer role involves working with a major contractor in the Irish Power, Transmission & Distribution sectors, focusing on commissioning ESB substations across multiple projects in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the suitability of substation equipment, conducting HV commissioning tests, and leading the commissioning of protection and control equipment. This position requires a degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering and relevant experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verifying all primary and secondary substation plant/equipment is suitable for a Declaration of Fitness.
  • Conduct all on-site HV commissioning tests on related plant.
  • Verify communications systems (SCADA, RTU, automation systems) are operational.
  • Lead commissioning on protection and control equipment.
  • Review and ensure comprehensive documentation of all test records.
  • Develop and nurture the update of commissioning procedures and standards.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in the commissioning of ESB HV substations.
  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, ideally Power Engineering.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.

ersg are searching for a Substation Commissioning Engineer to join a major contractor in the Irish Power, Transmission & Distribution sectors. This role requires someone with experience in commissioning ESB substations, and you will be working across multiple projects across Ireland.
