Summary: The Sub Agent role involves overseeing day-to-day operations on a major highway project between Manchester and Sheffield. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and coordinate construction activities on a defined section of the project.
- Supervise Section Engineers and Site Engineers, providing leadership, guidance, and support.
- Manage and interface with subcontractors to ensure works are delivered to programme, specification, and budget.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in compliance with CDM, H&S legislation, and environmental standards.
- Contribute to short-term programming and planning activities; support sequencing and resource allocation.
- Oversee quality assurance processes including ITPs, site records, and temporary works management.
- Coordinate with design, commercial, and procurement teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Support reporting on progress, productivity, risks, and mitigation plans to the Site Agent and Project Management.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer role on major highways or large civil infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record managing site teams and subcontractors in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Strong technical understanding of highways works, earthworks, drainage, and early-stage civil operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work proactively, solve problems, and drive performance on site.
- Valid CSCS card, SMSTS certification essential.
- Temporary Works Supervisor and highways-specific training (e.g., NHSS) desirable.
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
