Summary: The Studio Engineer role at a global motorcycle manufacturing client focuses on creative engineering with an emphasis on high-quality design skills. The position involves collaborating with diverse teams to develop new motorcycle concepts, requiring strong 3D digital modeling experience and a solid understanding of automotive engineering. The engineer will be responsible for solving design problems and ensuring that the aesthetic and functional aspects of motorcycle designs are met. This contract position is based in Leicestershire and is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translating strategic and functional objectives into technical requirements.
  • Developing and enhancing existing methods and processes.
  • Establishing target BOM and investment prices for new vehicle programs.
  • Identifying cost reduction and mass saving opportunities.
  • Conducting technical benchmarking and analysis of competitive vehicles.
  • Supporting the Studio Design Team to deliver surfaces that represent design intent while integrating engineering constraints.
  • Working with Physical Modelling and Engineering teams to develop 3D Digital model data for presentation models and prototypes.
  • Generating High Integrity data suitable for transfer into other CAD systems (principally Creo).
  • Producing parametric models natively in Creo.

Key Skills:

  • At least three years' experience in automotive OEM or independent studio working with OEM.
  • Experience in parametric solid modelling (Creo) to a high standard.
  • A strong degree of engineering experience.
  • Proven record of bringing motorcycle, scooter, or automotive digital models to styling sign-off.
  • Outputting digital models by rapid prototype output to SLS, SLA, etc.
  • Experience in clay/foam milling is a plus.
  • A passion for motorcycles and familiarity with the motorcycle market.
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of components simultaneously, balancing workload and prioritizing effectively.
  • Can-do attitude with initiative and confidence to engage hands-on.
