Stress Engineer - Stress & Structural Analysis
Location: Boscombe Down
Contract length: 12 months
Pay rate: £60 - £80 p/h - inside IR35 and via Umbrella
SC Clearance/ eligibility is required for this position

What you'll be doing:
- Deliver technical assessments for flight trials, product development, research activities and other projects
- Perform static strength, vibration, fatigue & damage tolerance analysis for airframe modifications and installations
- Use classical hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis to verify designs against regulatory expectations
- Devise and conduct structural tests (e.g. static strength and modal testing) to demonstrate compliance or validate analyses
- Produce formal calculations and supporting documentation with clear traceability to source data
- Support aircraft surveys and tests through Stress Office and AEC processes to certify designs to regulatory specifications
- Check calculations and drawings, contribute to design reviews, and present findings and recommendations
- Mentor junior engineers and help improve methods and team processes
What you'll bring:
- Strong experience working on aerospace products and/or aircraft modifications
- Expertise in stress/structural analysis for primary and secondary structures, using both hand calculations and FEM
- Confident use of FEM tools such as FEMAP/NX Nastran, Hyperworks, and Abaqus
- Experience with fatigue & damage tolerance analysis, including both metallic and composite structures
- Ability to document high-quality stress calculations and reports using tools such as MathCad / PTC Prime, Microsoft Word and Excel
- A bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
Additional information:
- Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for a CAA/EASA 21J and/or MAA DAOS organisation is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of Defence Standard 00-970 is desirable
