Summary: A client in the retail industry is looking for a Retail Strategy Consultant for an initial 3-month engagement, with the possibility of extension. The role involves leading and supporting strategic initiatives across various workstreams while collaborating with senior stakeholders. The consultant will report to a senior engagement lead and focus on enhancing performance and customer-centricity within the client's transformation agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support strategy development and implementation across several retail workstreams, including customer, commercial and operational topics
- Own day-to-day delivery of specific projects, ensuring milestones are met and outputs are of a high consulting standard
- Work across key strategic areas such as customer loyalty, CRM, media and marketing strategy, category strategy, data use cases (personalisation, recommendation engines) and tool re-organisation
- Conduct robust analysis of customer, trading and marketing data to generate insights and define clear, actionable recommendations
- Translate strategy into practical implementation plans, including roadmaps, operating models, KPIs and governance
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional client teams (e.g. marketing, digital, data, commercial) to ensure alignment and delivery
Key Skills:
- 4-8 years' experience in top-tier or highly regarded strategy consulting, or in a strategic role within a leading retailer
- Strong track record in retail strategy, with experience spanning strategy development and hands-on implementation
- Exposure to at least one of the following areas: customer loyalty, CRM, media/marketing strategy, category strategy, data use cases (e.g. personalisation, recommendation systems), or tool/tech re-organisation
- Strong slide-writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into clear, concise and compelling narratives
