About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Workforce Planning & People Analytics Lead to support the development and delivery of strategic workforce planning within a complex organisation.

The successful candidate will use workforce data, analytics and forecasting to understand current and future workforce requirements, identify capability gaps and workforce risks, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to senior stakeholders.

This is a strategic role combining workforce planning, people analytics, data analysis, workforce modelling, governance and stakeholder management.

Strategic Workforce Planning

  • Lead the development, maintenance and annual publication of the Strategic Workforce Plan.
  • Develop workforce supply and demand forecasts.
  • Undertake workforce capability assessments and strategic workforce risk analysis.
  • Conduct scenario planning and workforce modelling.
  • Identify future workforce requirements, skills gaps and capability risks.
  • Present workforce planning recommendations to senior and Executive stakeholders.
  • Support workforce prioritisation and workforce investment decisions.

People Analytics & Workforce Insight

  • Lead the people analytics and workforce insight capability.
  • Produce workforce dashboards, reports and analytical products.
  • Deliver workforce forecasting, trend analysis and workforce research.
  • Analyse complex workforce data and identify meaningful trends and insights.
  • Support evidence-based workforce planning and organisational decision-making.
  • Improve workforce data quality, reporting and analytical standards.

Workforce Operating Model

  • Coordinate the implementation and embedding of a Resource Management Operating Model.
  • Develop governance arrangements, processes and operating procedures.
  • Support improvements in workforce planning maturity and organisational adoption.
  • Manage implementation risks, actions and dependencies.

Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate quarterly workforce planning steering groups.
  • Maintain workforce establishment governance arrangements.
  • Develop workforce interventions arising from workforce planning outputs.
  • Support workforce capability development priorities and implementation activities.
  • Provide specialist workforce planning advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Build effective relationships across HR, workforce capability, organisational development and transformation teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience leading Strategic Workforce Planning within a complex organisation.
  • Experience developing workforce strategies, supply and demand models and forecasts.
  • Strong People Analytics/Workforce Analytics capability.
  • Experience with workforce dashboards, reporting and trend analysis.
  • Experience conducting workforce capability assessments and workforce risk analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to undertake multiple-variable analysis, regression analysis, factor analysis and thematic analysis.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data and quality assure findings.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and macros.
  • Ability to link strategic goals with operational and financial information to support big-picture decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of the employee lifecycle and how workforce indicators reflect organisational health.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Experience working across different organisational levels and building trust and collaboration.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing multiple stakeholders and prioritising competing tasks.
  • Experience implementing workforce operating models, organisational change or workforce transformation programmes.
  • Strong governance, facilitation and stakeholder management experience.
  • Ability to work independently and provide specialist subject matter expertise.

Desirable

  • Experience using Power BI to develop workforce or people analytics dashboards.
  • Experience within a large, complex or highly regulated organisation.
  • Experience working across HR, organisational development, workforce capability and transformation functions.

Qualifications

A degree in Business, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be someone who can combine strategic workforce planning with strong analytical capability.

They should be comfortable working with complex workforce data, developing forecasts and models, challenging existing assumptions and presenting clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.

They should be able to move beyond simply reporting data and explain what the data means, what the workforce risks are, and what actions the organisation should take as a result.
