Overview of the Strategic Property & Sustainability Manager position

Sellick Partnership is assisting a housing association who are looking for an experienced Strategic Property & Sustainability Manager to lead the delivery of the Group's strategic approach to property and asset management, supporting the objectives of our Asset Management Strategy.

This is a key management role with responsibility for ensuring our property portfolio is effectively managed, financially sustainable, compliant and aligned with the Group's wider strategic objectives. You will lead on strategic property projects, asset management initiatives, sustainability activity and portfolio decisions, while providing expert advice to senior leaders and building strong relationships with customers, partners, regulators and funding organisations.

Key responsibilities of the Strategic Property & Sustainability Manager position will include

  • Lead and deliver strategic property and asset management projects using industry best practice.
  • Manage leasehold and shared ownership matters, including customer enquiries, staircasing, Right to Acquire sales and extra care buy-backs.
  • Lead processes relating to the acquisition, disposal and rationalisation of the Group's property portfolio.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior managers, members and colleagues on strategic property and asset management matters.
  • Deliver the Group's Sustainability Plan, including overseeing activity relating to EPC data collection and asset performance.
  • Liaise with Homes England regarding applications for recycled grant funding.
  • Complete relevant regulatory returns and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Support the development and implementation of property-related policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and value for money across the Group's property assets.
  • Leadership & Management.

As Strategic Property & Sustainability Manager, you will be expected to

  • Support the Head of Growth and wider leadership team in delivering strategic objectives.

  • Lead, motivate and develop colleagues, adopting a positive coaching approach.

  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Ensure the Group operates to high professional, ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory, constitutional and financial requirements.

External Relationships

  • You will develop and maintain effective relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including:
  • Homes England and other funding bodies
  • Local authorities
  • Registered providers and housing organisations
  • Regulators
  • Professional and industry networks
  • Other strategic partners and organisations
  • You will represent the Group professionally and help strengthen its reputation and relationships locally, regionally and nationally.

Experience required for the Strategic Property & Sustainability Manager position will include

  • We are looking for an experienced property or asset management professional who can operate confidently at a strategic level and bring strong knowledge of the housing sector.
  • You will ideally have:
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of strategic property and asset management.
  • Significant experience working within a housing, development or property environment.
  • Experience delivering strategic projects and developing or implementing policies.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
  • A proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to communicate complex or challenging information to senior stakeholders.
