On behalf of Rolls-Royce, who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs, we are looking for a Strategic Buyer for a 12 Month contract based in Derby (hybrid).
Please note: this role will involve occasional travel to UK based suppliers.
Purpose of the Senior Strategic Buyer role:
As a Strategic Buyer, you’ll play a key role in developing and delivering procurement strategies across Civil and Defence projects, sourcing critical aerospace components from a global supplier base.
You’ll lead strategic sourcing activities, negotiate commercial agreements, and build resilient supplier partnerships to ensure a high-performing and compliant supply chain that supports business success.
What you will be doing:
- Developing and leading strategic sourcing activities from proposal through to contract signature, including supplier selection, negotiation, cost analysis, and business case development.
- Leading contract management activities, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalising new and existing supplier agreements.
- Managing supplier relationships, driving cost reduction initiatives, and resolving commercial and supply chain issues.
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating commercial risks while supporting the development of resilient and compliant supply chains within regulated environments.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop category strategies, support wider procurement activities, and deliver value across aerospace and engineering programmes.
The skills you’ll need:
- Experience working as a Strategic Buyer.
- Experience within the engineering, aerospace, manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
- Strong strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation experience.
- Knowledge of Export Control and ITAR regulations.
- Proven ability to negotiate commercial agreements and deliver cost reduction opportunities.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and managing supplier contracts, including renewals and amendments.
- Understanding of Total Cost of Acquisition/Product Cost Lifecycle models and supply chain risk management.
- SAP experience is required, with Ivalua knowledge considered advantageous.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing, and analytical problem-solving skills.
