Storage Engineer CONTRACT required, Dell PowerEdge, Dell EMC Unity or SAN, NetApp, VMWare EDXi

Hybrid working, (office based in London or Maidenhead)

Required experience

• reviewing, validating and documenting production server and storage environments, including infrastructure configurations, service dependencies etc.
• delivering server and storage infrastructure upgrades or replacements in live business-critical environments.
• supporting Dell PowerEdge servers.
• supporting Dell EMC Unity storage, or closely comparable enterprise SAN/storage platforms.
• supporting Dell PowerStore storage advantageous.
• Strong experience supporting NetApp storage, ideally including MetroCluster and NetApp storage configurations used to support backup applications.
• practical experience administering VMware ESXi, including planning and executing host upgrades to ESXi 8.x, or ideally ESXi 9.x.
• Veeam Backup & Replication, including hardened repository infrastructure.
• local IT, central infrastructure teams and business stakeholders to help identify production systems, business applications and their infrastructure dependencies.
• Experience working with hardware and service vendors to confirm technical dependencies and constraints.

Key technical and delivery skills

• Enterprise server and storage assessments, health checking, and capacity and supportability reviews.
• Dell PowerEdge server installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
• Dell EMC Unity administration, troubleshooting, and migration.
• NetApp administration, troubleshooting, migration and MetroCluster-related knowledge.
• VMware vSphere and ESXi host administration, troubleshooting, upgrade and hardware refresh.
• Veeam Backup & Replication, including hardened repository deployment, troubleshooting and migration.
• Physical server, hypervisor, storage and backup dependency mapping.
• Infrastructure lifecycle and end-of-support/end-of-life planning.
• Change planning, implementation sequencing, testing and rollback.
• Technical documentation, including configurations, inventories, dependencies and implementation records.
• Vendor coordination and hardware/service procurement support.
• Server, storage and network troubleshooting with a strong focus on service continuity and minimising downtime.
