Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, assemble, and/or install parts of a ship
  • Mark off materials
  • Assemble ship structures (Shell, Decks, Bulkheads, Frames, and Longitudinals)
  • Outfit ships with items such as seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels
  • Form materials using machinery such as rolling, flanging, and cutting machines (guillotine, cropper, and mechanical saw)
  • Prepare a ship for launch and sea trials, manufacture launch slipway, shores, batons, etc.

Key Skills:

  • Time-served in relevant trade

! NEW JOB ! Morson are looking to recruit Platers on behalf of our client based in Barrow in Furness These contracts are initially 12 months with a strong likelihood of extension. Successful candidates must be time served and able to provide trade papers on application, ideally with previous experience with shipbuilding/marine/heavy industry. What you will be doing! Fabricate, Assemble and/or install parts of a ship Marking off materials Assembling of ships structures (Shell, Decks, Bulkheads, Frames and Longditudinals Outfitting Ships items such as Seats, Ladders, False flooring & Panels Forming Materials using machinery such as Rolling, Flanging & Cutting Machines (Guillotine, Cropper & Mechanical Saw) Prepping a ship for launch & ship sea trails, manufacture of launch slipway, shores, batons etc Shifts can vary. Predominant shift patterns 3 on 4 off and nights: 3 on 4 off - Locals: £23.28 PAYE Non locals: £31.28 PAYE (Umbrella rates also available) Nights - Locals: £25.80 PAYE Non locals: £33.80 PAYE (Umbrella rates also available) Full rate card available on request Successful candidates will be required to gain Security clearance and pass a trade test before eligible to start on site.
