Summary: The role of Steelworker involves fabricating, assembling, and installing parts of ships for a client based in Barrow in Furness. Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate, assemble, and/or install parts of a ship
- Mark off materials
- Assemble ship structures (Shell, Decks, Bulkheads, Frames, and Longitudinals)
- Outfit ships with items such as seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels
- Form materials using machinery such as rolling, flanging, and cutting machines (guillotine, cropper, and mechanical saw)
- Prepare a ship for launch and sea trials, manufacture launch slipway, shores, batons, etc.
Key Skills:
- Time-served in relevant trade
- Ability to provide trade papers
- Previous experience in shipbuilding/marine/heavy industry
- Ability to pass a trade test
- Security clearance eligibility

Fabricate, Assemble and/or install parts of a ship Marking off materials Assembling of ships structures (Shell, Decks, Bulkheads, Frames and Longditudinals Outfitting Ships items such as Seats, Ladders, False flooring & Panels Forming Materials using machinery such as Rolling, Flanging & Cutting Machines (Guillotine, Cropper & Mechanical Saw) Prepping a ship for launch & ship sea trails, manufacture of launch slipway, shores, batons etc Shifts can vary.
