Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Finance Officer in ensuring accurate statutory Annual Accounts.
  • Produce initial plans and prioritize activities for year-end accounting.
  • Review and interpret statutory and legislative changes, advising the PCC and Chief Constable.
  • Implement legislative changes in line with guidance and regulations.
  • Act as the contact for audit of the accounts, ensuring timely sign-off by relevant officials.
  • Ensure compliance with current regulations and legislation.
  • Produce accurate financial information on capital spending monthly.
  • Record capital project spending and provide transactional reporting for monitoring.

Key Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA).
  • Demonstrable experience in accounting.
  • Experience with Local Authority accounting practices.
  • Experience in setting and monitoring budgets.
  • Experience in closing annual accounts.
  • Experience in managing staff, including performance issues and development.
  • Ability to advise senior management on financial matters.
