Summary: As a Standards and Controls Engineer, you will develop and implement control specifications and standards for manufacturing equipment, ensuring safety and integration with IT solutions. The role involves managing control systems, maintaining technical standards, and collaborating with various engineering teams. You will also provide technical expertise for problem-solving and support the development of new suppliers. This position requires extensive experience in PLC and robotics within a manufacturing environment, particularly automotive or propulsion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage planning, coordination, and delivery of control systems and standards for production-ready equipment interfaces.
- Maintain close working relationships with Manufacturing Engineering teams, Manufacturing Operations, and IT departments.
- Provide technical expertise to problem-solving activities to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain technical standards, project books, and specifications for manufacturing systems.
- Maintain interface specifications from shop floor PLCs to Manufacturing Execution Systems.
- Commission and work on machine monitoring and quality systems within production facilities.
- Support the development of new suppliers into group standards for equipment manufacture.

Role Summary
As a Standards and Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, updating and implementing control specifications and standards for manufacturing equipment and systems, ensuring integrated IT solutions and machinery safety. This includes mechanical, electrical, PLC software and robot programming software development.
Role & Responsibilities
- The Standards and Controls Engineer will manage the overall planning, co-ordination and delivery of control systems and standards to ensure production-ready equipment interfaces.
- Maintain close working relationships with Manufacturing Engineering teams, Manufacturing Operations, and IT departments.
- Provide technical expertise to problem-solving activities to accurately identify root cause and corrective actions.
- Maintain technical standards, project books and specifications for all manufacturing systems in line with Bill of Process, global standard operating practices and quality systems.
- Maintain interface specifications from shop floor PLCs and applications to Manufacturing Execution Systems.
- Commission and work on machine monitoring and quality systems within production facilities.
- Support the development of new suppliers cost-effectively into group standards for equipment manufacture.
Requirements of the Role
To succeed as a Standards and Controls Engineer, you must be Siemens trained/experienced.
Extensive PLC experience is required.
Good robotics experience is required.
Experience of Computer Numerically Controlled programming methods.
Previous experience and expertise in the specification, delivery, installation and launch of control systems, preferably within an automotive or propulsion environment.
Thorough understanding of machine electrical systems and designs in manufacturing.
Understanding of machinery safety legislation and standards.
Resilient and enthusiastic, with the ability to deliver results under pressure.
Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
