Senior Portfolio & Market Development Manager- (12-Month Maternity Cover)

Impact the Moment

As the Senior Portfolio & Market Development Manager for Higher Education, you will lead the execution of strategic market and product development plans that address the evolving needs of educators and the academic community across the region.

You will define and drive the portfolio strategy for the Higher Education market across Marketing, Psychology, and Management, serving as the voice of the customer to ensure the portfolio is optimized in line with business objectives and strategic priorities. You will identify content gaps and commission new solutions where there is a clear need for local market relevance or curriculum alignment. In addition, you will build and strengthen networks of authors and subject matter experts (SMEs), while cultivating relationships with influential customers. You will be accountable for portfolio performance, measuring and driving product success through key commercial and customer metrics.

You will also lead Market Development initiatives across the Higher Education portfolio to deliver business growth, including increasing revenue, expanding Connect digital activations and user engagement, and strengthening customer relationships to drive adoption and long-term success.

Build and nurture influential networks with authors, SMEs, and key academic customers

Convert market development contacts into users and advocates for McGraw Hill solutions

Support achievement of year-on-year revenue targets and increased market share through strategic portfolio and market development activity

What You Will Be Doing

Portfolio Management (50%)

Own the financial revenue and profitability of your regional product portfolios (Marketing, Management and Psychology), collaborating with sales and marketing to meet or exceed targets

Build and execute a regional roadmap, identifying and presenting compelling business cases for new product versions, innovations, and enhancements

Drive digital innovation by understanding customer needs and creating products with real value

Leverage market insights to identify customer pain points and develop solutions, using agile methods to gather problem-oriented feedback

Retain and recruit authors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), with effective succession planning to maintain portfolio strength and influence

Build true partnerships with Sales and Marketing, contributing to positioning, messaging, and target customer strategy

Market Development (40%)

Develop, prioritise, and execute market development plans in collaboration with Portfolio Managers and Marketing

Perform market data analysis and synthesise results to drive data-informed decisions

Cultivate high-value relationships with top targets representing optimal growth opportunities

Spend a minimum of 20% of each month engaging directly with the market (virtually or in person) to stay close to customer needs

Organise and collaborate on market development activities such as focus groups

Sales Enablement (10%)

Represent and promote the portfolios to regional teams

Partner with the Sales team to strategize on top opportunities and advance adoptions

Engage directly with HE instructors and key decision-makers to support a team sell approach

Convert market development contacts into committed users and advocates

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)

Experience in product management, publishing, EdTech, or the broader education industry

Strong market research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable decisions

Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of how to develop business plans or commercial cases

Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and deliver projects on time

General digital competency Microsoft Office, CRM systems, scheduling tools

Familiarity with EdTech platforms and digital learning environments

Customer-centric approach with the agility to adapt to change

Commercial mindset with a passion for innovative product and market development

Strong market research and analytical skills
