Summary: Excellent opportunity for an experienced SQL Server Database Developer to join a leading banking organization, focusing on the development, enhancement, and modernization of its Microsoft data and reporting environment. This hands-on technical role involves SQL Server database development, ETL, reporting, and data warehouse solutions. The developer will collaborate with business and technology teams to ensure reliable database objects and reporting outputs in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain SQL Server databases, tables, views, stored procedures, user-defined functions and other database objects.
  • Build, maintain and optimise ETL processes using SSIS, including master and child packages, package configurations, logging, variables and expressions.
  • Develop and support reporting solutions using SSRS and Power BI, including tabular, Matrix and parameterised reports.
  • Write, tune and optimise T-SQL queries, stored procedures and database routines.
  • Support data modelling, data warehouse development and database design activity.
  • Work with Visual Studio, Git and Azure DevOps to support controlled development, source control and continuous integration.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, testers and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust data solutions.
  • Support both Agile and waterfall delivery environments.
  • Assist with data migration, data quality, reconciliation and production support where required.

Key Skills:

  • Strong commercial experience as a SQL Server Developer, SQL Database Developer, Database Developer or SQL BI Developer.
  • Strong SQL Server experience, ideally SQL Server 2019 or above.
  • Strong T-SQL development skills, including stored procedures, views, functions, indexing and query optimisation.
  • Hands-on SSIS experience, including ETL package development and maintenance.
  • SSRS reporting experience.
  • Power BI reporting experience.
  • Experience of data modelling and database design.
  • Experience using Visual Studio.
  • Experience with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Useful additional experience
  • Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory or wider Azure data services.
  • ASP.NET, C#, web services or JavaScript exposure, particularly where applications interface with databases.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM customisation.
  • SharePoint development.
