Summary: The role is for a DBA specializing in SQL and Oracle database technologies, requiring DV + NPPV3 clearance. It is a contract position based in Greater London, primarily onsite, with a focus on database administration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting. The position is outside IR35 and offers the potential for extension beyond the initial six-month term.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, Configuration, Maintenance, and Performance of DB systems – SQL and Oracle.
  • Monitor, maintain, and tune databases to optimize server availability and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Create suitable Database alerts and proactively monitor and respond to alerts.
  • Troubleshoot performance and connection issues.
  • Build environments based on standards and best practices aligned to operational and business requirements.
  • Monitor database maintenance scripts for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics.
  • Produce, maintain, and ensure backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Provide application implementation, IT application support, technical support, problem solving, and technical documentation.
  • Support application installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Be available for out-of-hours support as part of a support rotation.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in database technologies with a good understanding of SQL/Oracle development and scripting tools.
  • Knowledge of Oracle DB Architecture, Performance, Database Installation & Configuration.
  • Experience in database administration, including backups, maintenance, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, security management, and patch management.
  • Experience implementing high availability setups such as Always on HA, Mirroring, log shipping, and Microsoft Clustering.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server Stack – SSMS, SSAS, SSIS & SSRS.
  • Experience working on Linux.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server internals and core database functionality (indexes, schemas, triggers, etc.).
  • Good understanding of database architecture and database design.

Our client is looking for a DBA with experience in database technologies and good understanding of SQL/Oracle development. This is a contract role initially for 6 months with good possibility of extension. The role is outside IR35. Please note that this role is fully onsite - 4 days per week in London and 1 day onsite in Milton Keynes. Due to nature of the role DV + NPPV3 clearance is required.

Essential Experience Required:

  • Experience in database technologies and a good understanding of SQL/Oracle development and scripting tools; Oracle DB Architecture, Performance, Database Installation & Configuration
  • Experience in database administration, including back-ups, maintenance, performance monitoring and troubleshooting, security management, patch management
