SQL Developer

Summary: The SQL Developer will be responsible for supporting and enhancing a client's Data Warehouse platform over a 12-month fixed-term contract. Key tasks include performance tuning, schema development, and ensuring the stability and scalability of the data environment. The role requires collaboration within defined design principles to maintain consistency across integrated data sets. The position demands a proactive approach to diagnosing performance issues and implementing effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on a large, mature Data Warehouse platform containing multiple integrated data sets.
• Undertake performance tuning across the environment, including query optimisation and index strategy.
• Investigate and diagnose performance issues, providing clear recommendations for remediation and future prevention.
• Develop and enhance normalised and star-schema data models.
• Design, build, and maintain SSIS packages.
• Carry out ad hoc database administration tasks as required, including activities such as SQL Server migrations.
• Ensure all solutions align with existing design standards unless changes are formally agreed.

Key Skills:

• Experience with SQL development and Data Warehouse platforms.
• Strong skills in performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Proficiency in developing normalised and star-schema data models.
