Summary: The role of SQL Developer/DBA requires an experienced professional with active SC clearance to work on a critical public sector programme. This hands-on position focuses on high-performance SQL development and database optimization within a complex data environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability across critical systems. The contract is initially for three months with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tuning and optimising complex SQL queries at scale
- Designing and maintaining robust database architectures (OLTP/OLAP)
- Supporting a multi-layered ecosystem including SQL Server, IIS, and Elasticsearch
- Building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data integration processes
- Ensuring data integrity, security, and performance across systems
Key Skills:
- Strong background in SQL Development/Database Engineering/DBA roles
- Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
- Advanced SQL skills including CTEs, joins, subqueries, and performance tuning
- Experience working with at least one additional RDBMS (eg PostgreSQL or MySQL)
- Proven ability to hit the ground running in fast-paced, delivery-focused environments

We're working with a leading consultancy on a critical public sector programme, and are looking for an experienced SQL Developer/Database Specialist to join on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a hands-on role focused on high-performance SQL development and database optimisation within a complex, enterprise-scale data environment. You'll play a key role in ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability across critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Tuning and optimising complex SQL queries at scale
- Designing and maintaining robust database architectures (OLTP/OLAP)
- Supporting a multi-layered ecosystem including SQL Server, IIS, and Elasticsearch
- Building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data integration processes
- Ensuring data integrity, security, and performance across systems
Experience Required
