Summary: The SQL Database Developer role at an award-winning professional services firm involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure databases that support business operations and legal systems. This position is integral to the technology team, focusing on both on-premises SQL Server and Azure SQL databases to enhance performance, security, and reliability. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement efficient database structures for new and existing applications.
- Develop and maintain T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers for performance improvements.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise databases for reliability and scalability.
- Implement indexing, query optimisation, and resource management.
- Manage user permissions, encryption, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and business teams to align database solutions with business needs.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Database Developer or DBA.
- Expertise in SQL Server & Azure SQL, including database design and optimisation.
- Strong T-SQL skills (queries, stored procedures, functions).
- Experience with performance tuning, backup strategies, and high availability.
- Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Storage).
- Understanding of DevOps, version control (Git), and automation.
- Knowledge of ETL, data warehousing, and PowerShell scripting (nice to have).
- Microsoft certifications (Azure Database Administrator, SQL Server) (nice to have).
