Summary: The SQL Server Developer/Engineer role involves supporting a major technology and cyber delivery programme within a leading UK financial services organisation. The position requires a strong Back End-focused engineer with expertise in SQL development, automation, and DevOps. Candidates must have recent experience in financial services and be prepared to work on-site two days a week in Cheshire. The role offers an initial contract of 6-12 months with a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery and engineering of enterprise SQL and Back End solutions within a large-scale banking environment.
- Develop and maintain solutions using C#, PowerShell, WebAPI, and SQL technologies.
- Deliver automation, Scripting, and integration capabilities across infrastructure and engineering platforms.
- Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to enhance platform stability and delivery capability.
- Support API and JSON-based integrations across internal services and applications.
- Adhere to the clients standards for change control, governance, database security, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps processes using tools such as Git and Jenkins.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation across all aspects of the solution life cycle.
- Collaborate within Agile delivery teams to support continuous improvement and rapid delivery.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Skills:
- Strong commercial experience as a SQL Developer, SQL Engineer, Backend Developer, or similar engineering role.
- Expert-level knowledge of C#, PowerShell Scripting, MSSQL/SQL Server, JSON/API interfaces, WebAPI development, and solution development and design.
- Strong experience with Back End development and relational database technologies.
- Experience working within DevOps and Agile delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of SDLC/SDLB processes and engineering best practices.
- Experience using Git, Jenkins, Confluence, and related tooling.
- Strong understanding of coding practices, automation, and data structures/algorithms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
