Summary: We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join our customer's team on a part-time basis, working on-site in Leicester. The role involves supporting development and QA projects while collaborating with product owners and cross-functional teams to ensure high-performing database environments. The position requires a strong background in SQL Server administration and performance optimization. This is a critical role for maintaining robust database solutions in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases to support development and QA environments
  • Work alongside developers and product owners to understand project requirements and provide database solutions
  • Support release management by creating, maintaining, and deploying database scripts for dev and QA
  • Ensure data integrity, availability, and performance across test environments
  • Assist in implementing version control, automated deployments, and change tracking for database objects
  • Troubleshoot database issues and support performance tuning activities
  • Support migration of schema and data between environments in line with project timelines
  • Maintain documentation for database structures, processes, and environment configurations

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA (ideally 2016 and later)
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning
  • Experience working in development and QA environments
  • Familiarity with database source control and CI/CD practices
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when engaging with product owners and developers
