Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases across multiple environments
  • Manage database clustering, replication, backups, restores, and performance optimisation activities
  • Provide third-line support, troubleshooting complex database incidents and service requests
  • Perform database releases, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities
  • Monitor database health, capacity, and performance, implementing improvements where required
  • Support and maintain SSIS packages and data integration processes
  • Assist with Power BI Report Server administration, upgrades, performance tuning, and SSL certificate management
  • Work closely with infrastructure and application teams to ensure reliable database services
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing and best practice initiatives

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016 onwards)
  • Significant expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and database performance tuning
  • Experience working with Azure Virtual Machines, Windows Server, and Azure DevOps
  • Hands-on experience creating, maintaining, and deploying SSIS packages
  • Knowledge of Power BI Report Server administration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM and/or Azure Monitor
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITIL-based service management tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support business-critical environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

SQL Database Administrator to join a high-performing infrastructure and database team supporting critical enterprise systems across Azure and on-premise environments. Long-term opportunity based Full time in Manchester within a secure operational environment.

You will act as a subject matter expert for Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL platforms, ensuring the performance, availability, security, and ongoing support of business-critical database services across production, UAT, and development environments.
