Summary: The Speech and Language Tutor role involves providing tailored support to individuals with communication difficulties, including children and adults. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to individual needs
- Support clients with a range of communication difficulties including speech delay, language disorders, and social communication challenges
- Collaborate with families, educators, and speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to align support strategies
- Track progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reports and assessments
- Develop engaging resources and adapt learning materials
- Foster a safe, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment
- Experience with working with Makaton, PECKs and Makaton
Key Skills:
- Experience working in speech and language support, education, or therapy settings
- A relevant qualification in education, speech and language support, or a related field (e.g., SALT assistant certification, teaching degree, etc.)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) (desirable)
- Knowledge of speech and language developmental milestones (desirable)
- DBS or background check clearance (required if working with children or vulnerable adults)
