Summary: The Specialist Coatings Engineer at UMAC Systems Ltd will lead the development of a cutting-edge surface coating system for the medical device industry. This role involves project management, training, and communication with various departments and stakeholders to ensure successful product development. The position also includes collaboration with Ulster University and offers a fully funded Post-Graduate Diploma. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in a multi-disciplinary team focused on innovation in medical device technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define project requirements including material, labour, and overhead resources, and complete a User Requirement Document with health and safety considerations.
• Ensure adherence to the documentation process for project management and meet agreed timelines through effective resource management.
• Train and complete surface characterisation testing, set up specific Test Procedures, and conduct Bench tests while providing feedback to the design stage.
• Communicate project requirements to relevant departments and manage market communication on project-related matters.
• Work with clients and suppliers to meet their expectations and lead the design function in collaboration with UMAC and Ulster University teams.

Key Skills:

• BEng in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related subject.
• Experience in medical catheter development and medical device coating applications.
• Regulatory experience and strong analytical, numerical, and IT skills.
• Previous experience on a medical device-related project.
• Ability to work closely with industry partners and manage projects effectively.
• Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel as required by the post.
