Summary: The Sopra Banking Software (SBS) Consultant will serve as the in-house expert on Sopra Banking Software, focusing on its implementation and customization to meet business needs. This role involves leading the end-to-end implementation process, ensuring system performance, and providing training and support to users. The consultant will engage with various stakeholders to align project objectives and champion best practices within the software. The position is contract-based for six months and requires immediate availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end implementation of Sopra Banking Software, translating business requirements into system configurations.
  • Configure core SBS modules and develop bespoke extensions to address unique workflow needs.
  • Continuously monitor system performance, tuning settings and processes to enhance speed, reliability, and user satisfaction.
  • Design and deliver targeted training sessions and user guides to ensure adoption and proficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve application issues, liaising with technical support or development teams for complex fixes.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all configurations, custom code, and operational procedures.
  • Engage with business stakeholders, IT teams, and third-party vendors to align project objectives and timelines.
  • Champion industry best practices and new SBS features, proactively suggesting enhancements.
  • Coordinate UAT cycles—drafting test plans, tracking defects, and validating fixes.
  • Provide go-live support and post-deployment stabilization, including performance checks and knowledge transfer.

Key Skills:

  • Deep expertise in Sopra Banking Software modules, configuration, and extension frameworks.
  • Proven track record leading SBS implementation or upgrade projects in a financial services environment.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex requirements into technical designs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication—comfortable presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Solid understanding of banking operations, regulatory requirements, and data controls.
  • Hands-on experience with SDLC practices, including Agile sprint planning and Waterfall deliverables.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and drive workstreams to completion.
  • Experience scripting or programming (Java, PL/SQL, or similar) for custom SBS enhancements (desirable).
  • Familiarity with database concepts, SQL query tuning, and ETL processes (desirable).
  • Prior exposure to user training design and delivery, including creation of e-learning materials (desirable).
  • Knowledge of DevOps tooling or CI/CD pipelines in banking software lifecycles (desirable).
