Summary: The role of Sonar & AI Model Consultant involves supporting the development, testing, and deployment of acoustic AI Operational Concept Demonstrators for AUKUS use cases. The consultant will work closely with the Ministry of Defence and other stakeholders to integrate software components and resolve real-time integration issues. Candidates must possess experience in sonar analysis and AI/ML model development. This position offers a high-profile contract opportunity within a leading defence organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a project to develop, test and deploy four acoustic AI Operational Concept Demonstrators (OCDs) for priority AUKUS use cases.
- Work alongside MoD to develop an initial concept demonstrator.
- Collaborate with the Use Case 1 AI/ML team to obtain a latest trained OS model.
- Integrate with Dstl, MOD and ACE staff, contributing towards the planning of the trial.
- Develop model interfacing code based upon an example from MoD.
- Directly support the trial alongside MoD development staff to resolve integration issues in real time and reporting on performance.
- Contribute towards the development of requirements for a Sovereign Edge Inference capability.
- Continue development, to an agreed level of maturity, post-trial if deemed appropriate.
Key Skills:
- Sonar Analysis experience in passive sonar analysis techniques.
- Hands-on deployment of integrated solutions to target hardware.
- Experience with integrating distinct software components as part of a sonar processing pipeline.
- Experience with low-level TCP network stack.
- Familiarity with data science techniques including developing and training AI/ML models, preferably for acoustic scene classification.
- SC Cleared.

Our client, a leading defence organisation, urgently require an experienced Sonar & AI Model Consultant to undertake a contract starting immediately. In order to be successful, you will have the following experience:
- Sonar Analysis experience in passive sonar analysis techniques including interpretation of lofargram and directionally colour coded displays
- Hands-on deployment of integrated solution to target hardware.
- Experience with integrating distinct software components as part of a sonar processing pipeline
- Experience with low-level TCP network stack
- Familiarity with data science techniques including the developing and training of AI/ML models, preferably relating to the acoustic scene classification
- SC Cleared
