Summary: The Solutions Architect for Retail Core Banking will leverage significant experience in solution architecture within complex financial services environments, focusing on retail banking products and onboarding processes. The role requires expertise in defining and documenting architecture while collaborating with stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives. The architect will also ensure alignment of technical designs with established architecture standards and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and document As-Is & Target Architecture.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver strategic objectives and roadmaps.
- Define and evolve RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Produce clear functional architecture and design logical components.
- Balance business outcomes with long-term architecture strategies.
- Peer review designs to ensure architectural integrity and compliance.
- Create practical architectures aligned with IT principles and standards.
Key Skills:
- Significant experience as a Solution Architect in financial services.
- Domain knowledge in retail banking products and onboarding processes.
- Experience with domain-driven design, BIAN framework, TOGAF, and ArchiMate.
- Proven ability to define and document architecture.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.

Significant experience as a Solution Architect, ideally within complex financial services environments
Domain knowledge in
- Retail Banking products
- e.g. - Unsecured loans
- Personal Accounts – banking & savings and Bonds (fixed term deposits)
- Business Segmentation – Retail, business banking, private
- Onboarding processes for Personal account
- Core Banking products (customers, accounts, pricing, transactions, etc) and related services essential to the operations of a bank
Domain driven design, with working knowledge of the BIAN framework, TOGAF, ArchiMate
Proven experience in defining & documenting As-Is & Target Architecture, working with stakeholders to help define & deliver strategic objectives & roadmaps, being embedded into the functional domain, balancing business requirements with functional & technical
Strategy Experience
Defining and evolving RESTful APIs following best practices for scalability, versioning and documentation
Experience with event-driven architectures
Ability to produce clear functional architecture, design logical components and define interactions between systems, whilst delivering decommissioning and archival initiatives
Experience balancing business outcomes with long term architecture strategies
Experience in working with engineering teams to align technical designs with the published architecture. Peer review designs produced by other team members, ensuring architectural integrity and compliance with standards.
Experience in creating practical, workable architectures that can be aligned to IT principles/standards, whilst following the bank’s architecture governance processes.
