Summary: The Security Solutions Architect role involves designing and delivering secure cloud-based architectures for a leading financial services organization. The position requires expertise in cloud security architecture and the ability to influence senior stakeholders while balancing security risks and business delivery. This role is part of a large-scale digital transformation initiative within the financial services sector. The contract is hybrid, requiring two days a week onsite, with a daily rate of £600-£620 inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design secure cloud-based architectures across AWS, Azure or GCP
- Apply security-by-design principles including defence in depth and reduction of blast radius
- Identify threat vectors across cloud and hybrid environments
- Define workload placement strategies leveraging elasticity, containerisation and serverless capabilities
- Produce architecture artefacts required for governance, privacy and security approval processes
- Conduct impact assessments across risk, resilience, capacity and cost
- Support operational teams with fault finding and performance considerations
- Contribute to control frameworks, risk mitigation strategies and policy evolution
- Influence senior stakeholders to align on secure design decisions
Key Skills:
- Proven experience operating as a Security Solutions Architect within financial services or similarly regulated environments
- Strong cloud security architecture experience (AWS, Azure and/or GCP)
- Experience designing secure solutions across complex, enterprise-scale estates
- Understanding of modern architecture paradigms and Agile delivery models
- Experience identifying and mitigating cloud-based threat vectors
- Strong documentation and governance experience
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture framework exposure (desirable)
- Experience working within highly regulated environments (desirable)
- Knowledge of enterprise security controls and compliance frameworks (desirable)
