Summary: The Solution Architect for Open Banking/Payment will lead the design of effective API solutions within the Open Banking Center of Excellence, ensuring alignment with strategic architecture principles. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, producing design artifacts, and contributing to overall solution planning while addressing technical risks. The position requires deep expertise in UK open banking standards and large-scale API integration within the banking and payments domain. The role is hybrid, based in Northampton, and has a contract duration until the end of December 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective solution designs within the Open Banking COE, focusing on API design and security.
- Design end-to-end API solutions to meet business needs.
- Contribute to overall solution planning and estimation processes.
- Define best practices in the API space and produce necessary design artifacts.
- Engage with stakeholders in workshops and present to the Customer's Architecture Review Board.
- Ensure solutions align with strategic architecture principles and review designs produced by technical teams.
- Support the delivery lead in breaking down solutions for iterative delivery in sprints.
- Review requirements and monitor change requests for solution design fit.
Key Skills:
- Deep experience with UK's open banking standards and solution implementation.
- Highly experienced in designing solutions for large-scale API integration in Banking/Payments.
- Knowledge of REST API design principles and experience with Swagger/RAML definitions.
- Experience with API security standards such as OAuth, OIDC, and FAPI.
- Understanding of Domain Driven Design and expertise in API management platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Apigee).
- Experience in building and deploying large-scale distributed micro-services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Expertise in observability, logging, monitoring, and error handling.
- Knowledge of public cloud services, preferably AWS, and Enterprise Integration Patterns with Kafka.
- Expertise in DevOps solutions (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).
- Financial services experience is advantageous.
