A large-scale application modernisation and cloud migration programme for a major public sector client needs Solution Architects.
The programme covers a large number of key business services.
It will drive adoption of mainstream technology stacks together with modern delivery and service capabilities, including public cloud migrations that significantly reduce technical debt.
You should thrive on variety and enjoy working across the full project lifecycle.
Our solution architects generally act as technical leads within a project or programme team, from the start of solution design and development through to implementation into live service.
They often support commercial proposals and own technical solution governance at every stage.
Your role:
You'll own the solution design through the delivery phases.
You'll work through technical challenges and decisions with the project and engagement management teams to deliver the solution safely into live operation.
We expect experience across a wide range of technologies, including public and private cloud, so you can influence and advise on the best solution options and be credible with clients and senior internal stakeholders.
Key activities:
- Take ownership of an individual application modernisation requirement within the wider programme
- Drive solution development and documentation, observing good architectural practice throughout the lifecycle
- Make sure solutions and artefacts follow architecture governance processes
- Work with agile development teams and delivery architects through every phase of the solution lifecycle
- Own the solution and act as the face of it to senior internal and external stakeholders
- Build excellent client relationships and become a trusted adviser through boldness and honesty
- Manage technical relationships with vendors and third parties
- Make sure delivery meets the agreed specification, and own technical problem management and resolution
- Work as part of the programme team, reporting to the Programme Lead Architect
Skills and experience:
- Experience of application modernisation and public cloud migration
- Experience adapting Legacy technologies to fit an ecosystem based on AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Helm, Java, JavaScript, Oracle and MySQL (advantageous)
