Solution Architect

Summary: The role of Solution Architect at UKRI involves leading architectural efforts for various projects, ensuring adherence to established principles and standards. This position requires collaboration with multiple teams to develop investment cases and maintain documentation throughout the project lifecycle. The contract is for 10 months and is primarily remote with occasional visits to Swindon. The role is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that DDG projects adhere to DDaT architecture principles, standards, and patterns at the enterprise- / macro-level.
• Support the development of investment cases for DDG projects and follow through into the design and delivery.
• Act as lead architect on the DDH team advising on overall solutions to ensure any issues are uncovered and resolved quickly.
• Work closely with solution architects in the DDG and other programmes to ensure adherence to design intent and TDA requirements.
• Own the Enterprise Scope / Solution Overview / High Level Design documentation for approval by UKRI Technical Design Authority (TDA).
• Keep documentation up to date throughout the lifecycle and attend UKRI TDA with necessary changes.
• Develop the Solution Roadmap to show enhancements from minimum-viable product to retirement.
• Create formal architecture products for product selection, options, and impact assessment.
• Work with commercial colleagues to provide input to tender materials and conduct supplier and product evaluation.

Key Skills:

• Proven experience in defining requirements in an agile development framework based on user needs.
• Ability to identify opportunities for service and business improvement.
• Experience writing business cases justifying investment in digital spend.
• Experience as an architect on an agile programme using enterprise scale cloud computing platforms.
• Qualifications in TOGAF, SAFe, or agile architecture.
