Solution Architect - Application Modernisation/Cloud Migration

Key Responsibilities

• Own solution design activities throughout the delivery life cycle, from concept and development through to implementation.
• Lead application modernisation initiatives and support migration of services to public cloud environments.
• Produce and maintain high-quality architecture documentation and ensure solutions align with architectural governance standards.
• Work closely with Agile delivery teams, technical leads and wider programme stakeholders.
• Act as the technical point of contact, providing guidance, decision-making and resolution of complex technical challenges.
• Build strong working relationships with internal teams, customers, vendors and third-party suppliers.
• Support the delivery of secure, scalable and sustainable technology solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience working as a Solution Architect within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong background in application modernisation and public cloud migration.
• Experience working with Legacy technologies and integrating them into modern technology ecosystems.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
• Understanding of modern engineering practices and technologies including:
• Kubernetes
• Helm
• Java/JavaScript
• Oracle/MySQL
• Experience working with Agile development teams and delivery functions throughout the solution life cycle.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and senior business stakeholders.
• Experience owning technical solutions, governance and problem resolution.

Desirable

• Experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
• Experience working within regulated, government or enterprise environments.
• Ability to act as a trusted technical advisor, balancing technical decisions with business outcomes.

Please note: This role requires BPSS clearance and will require 2 days per week onsite in Telford.
