Solicitor - Procurement & Commercial

- Salary: £26.62 PAYE per hour / £34.79 Umbrella per hour
We are seeking a skilled Procurement and Commercial Solicitor to join a large public sector organisation on a temporary basis. This role involves providing comprehensive legal advice and services, particularly in relation to major infrastructure, PPP/PFI, and complex procurement schemes. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding all stages of complex projects and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with commercial, contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
Day-to-day of the role
- Provide specialist legal advice on complex procurements and projects throughout all stages of the project lifecycle, including feasibility, business case development, and performance matters.
- Lead on drafting and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring thorough due diligence and effective risk management.
- Support organisational transformation and change programmes involving legal and regulatory considerations.
- Resolve contract disputes and lead negotiations with bidding consortia, advisers, and lenders on legal matters.
- Manage legal and commercial aspects of major projects and procurement schemes, ensuring the successful delivery and continuous improvement of services that meet organisational and stakeholder objectives.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to senior leaders, executives, and key stakeholders across the organisation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FCILEx, with a current practising certificate in England.
- Demonstrable experience in handling complex commercial projects and/or complex public sector procurement.
- Strong ability to present complex information clearly and concisely across various formats.
- Creative problem-solving skills with a proven ability to find innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Knowledge of contracts and commercial law, public procurement, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in leading legal workstreams within complex public sector projects and procurement programmes.
