Are you ready to make a significant impact in the energy sector? ScottishPower is seeking a talented Property Solicitor to join our dynamic Legal Team. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to support our SP Energy Networks business in securing essential land contracts for a variety of strategic investment, reinforcement, customer connection and network upgrade projects across our licence areas.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a solicitor within the SP Energy Networks Legal team, and the wider ScottishPower Legal Team, you will be providing legal advice in respect of securing land contracts across multiple new infrastructure projects. You will work in close conjunction with essential support functions such as the Land & Planning Team, playing a pivotal role in our project teams. You will have the autonomy to identify and lead the implementation of innovative legal processes and best practices. This role offers regular contact and ongoing working relationships with senior managers and executives across ScottishPower Energy Networks, ScottishPower, and the Iberdrola Group. There is scope within the role to develop into providing advice to SP Energy Networks in other legal practice areas such as Planning and Environmental Law. What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in energy and/or infrastructure projects, demonstrating a good understanding of the energy sector. Your background should include experience in commercial property or energy/infrastructure project transactions, showcasing your ability to handle complex transactions and provide detailed legal advice to clients. You must be proficient in the preparation and documenting of Options, Leases, Servitudes, Dispositions, and other related land contracts. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, as you will be supporting and leading land transactions while building and maintaining effective relationships with the business and its support functions. Demonstrating good commercial awareness is key, along with having insight into legal market developments and the business environment. Finally, you should be capable of managing a high-volume workload, meeting tight deadlines, demonstrating efficiency and resilience under pressure.
