Summary: The Software Test Engineer role involves supporting the development and validation of complex software systems for a client based in Royston. The position requires collaboration with product, development, and architecture teams to ensure high-quality software delivery. The contract is initially for 12 months with potential for extension, and hybrid working arrangements are considered. The role is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, analyse and validate requirements with cross-functional stakeholders
- Contribute to software design through reviews, prototyping and test case development
- Produce test plans, QA documentation and test summary reports
- Implement and maintain automated tests at unit, smoke and regression levels
- Validate integrated software and hardware systems
- Support development and technical support teams as required
Key Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- Strong hands-on experience developing and testing commercial software
- High-level proficiency in C#, C or C++ and XML
- Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming and modern SDLC practices
- Experience with Windows Forms, WCF, WPF, SQL and database programming, hardware interfaces (serial, network, USB), GUI development and performance optimisation is desirable
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, results-driven approach
