Summary: The Software Engineer role in Credit Risk Management focuses on enhancing the organization's FICO decision management systems. The position requires a minimum of four days a week on-site work in Essex and involves developing and maintaining lending decision systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the company's credit risk strategies and improving decision-making processes. This is a four-month contract with potential for extension, starting in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer FICO systems platform, including scorecard implementation, rules configuration, and system optimisation
  • Translate business requirements into FICO configurations, develop new decision strategies, and implement credit risk origination strategies
  • Utilise FICO's built-in testing capabilities to validate rule changes, scorecard implementations, and system configurations before deployment
  • Create and maintain reports to evaluate system performance, monitor scorecard effectiveness, and support champion/challenger testing strategies
  • Work closely with Risk, IT, and Business teams to enhance credit risk processes
  • Interface with FICO technical teams and manage platform relationships to ensure the organisations requirements are met

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience working with decision systems platforms (FICO systems, Provenir, SDS/PowerCurve, etc.)
  • Programming proficiency in Python, SAS, or SQL (multiple languages advantageous) ? Advanced coding skills in R, Python, Java, or SQL
  • System testing expertise: Proficiency with testing capabilities within decision management platforms
  • Knowledge and understanding of analytical model development, credit bureau data, and financial services
  • Knowledge of lending landscape and various in-house and outsourced systems, applications & services used by Decision Systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work and adapt in fast-changing environment with tight delivery timelines
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to network and build strong relationships with internal and external peer groups

Company overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to help evolve their Credit Risk Management capabilities. They are building an in-house team to take greater control of their FICO decision management systems.

The successful candidate will work directly with FICO systems to develop and maintain the lending decision systems, enabling the organization to be more agile and self-sufficient in managing Credit Risk Strategies.

This is an opportunity to build and shape a new function within the company with a direct impact on credit decision-making.
