Summary: The Software Development Project Manager will oversee the Research and Development department within a rail client, focusing on the delivery of innovative technology projects. This role requires leading cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget while meeting stakeholder expectations. The PM will coordinate closely with various key roles to align project objectives with business needs. The position is based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects with full responsibility for project results in terms of cost, quality, schedule, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Create project schedules and drive R&D projects in cooperation with stakeholders.
  • Execute projects within defined requirements regarding targets for cost, time, quality, functionality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure business success and customer satisfaction through professional stakeholder management.
  • Make timely decisions about open issues, escalating if necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to architecture, design, quality guidelines, product security, and product safety topics.
  • Manage compliance with standards, working laws, rules, regulations, and intellectual property rights.
  • Perform risk and opportunity management.
  • Conduct budget and resource planning and generate project agreements.
  • Align project targets with R&D strategy, including product portfolio and technology roadmap.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture, including reuse, cooperation, knowledge management, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure appropriate project documentation.
  • Incorporate customer feedback during project execution.

Key Skills:

  • 5+ years expertise as a Project Manager.
  • Proven delivery record of multiple projects greater than £1M per year.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience managing complex safety-critical development projects.
  • Professional accreditation.
  • Experience with MS Project.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Location: 3 days per week( Minimum) in Ashby-de-la Zouch office / 1 day per month in Chippenham office

Our Rail client is recruiting for an experienced Software Development Project Manager to join the Research and Development department to drive forward the product development of ground-breaking technology in the rail industry.

The PM will be expected to lead cross functional teams to deliver maximum product value to a range of internal and external customers. The focus of the role will be on the effective coordination of activities leading to the successful delivery of projects on time and to budget. The PM will liaise closely with other key roles in the organisation (e.g. programme managers, technical authorities, product line managers, quality managers etc.) to ensure the project meets the needs of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • The R&D Project Manager manages projects with full responsibility for project results in the context of delivery to cost, quality, schedule and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Creates project schedules and drives R&D projects in cooperation with stakeholders.
